Antioxidant Immune Boosting Smoothie

”The amount of antioxidants in your body is directly proportional to how long you will live."
- Dr. Richard Cutler, former Director of the National Institute of Aging, Washington

Antioxidants protect the cells from free radicals, which are little oxygen molecules that are harmful to our bodies (i.e., trigger cancer, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and rheumatoid arthritis). They may also be an underlying reason as to why we age. We all have free radicals in our bodies, however their frequency increases when there are other factors introduced like alcohol, smoking, stress, infection, pollution, excessive sunlight and toxins like asbestos and radiation.

When free excessive radicals are formed in the body, oxidative stress occurs which often correlates with some underlying disease or illness (cancer, heart disease, diabetes, muscle and tissue degeneration, and so on).

Antioxidants help make us look and feel alive and help to preserve the skin's natural glow. They also help to prevent the skin from burning (via vitamin's E and C)! Berries are an excellent source of antioxidants, which makes this smoothie an antioxidant powerhouse (and you will find out soon why!)
